The 77 Double Lucky + Ahsum Acres Team

Dan C. Sullivan Photo Daniel C. Sullivan; President — 77 Double Lucky, Owner — Ahsum Acres
Dan is a lawyer practicing since 1967. At age 55, he decided to take up riding again, an interest sparked during his youth on a farm/ranch in southwest Kansas. Riding, including fox hunting and eventing at the lower levels of that discipline, led to a proficiency in equine law and the decision to purchase the horse farm, Ahsum Acres. His growing interest in Thoroughbreds led to him start the breeding involvement and race horses as 77 Double Lucky, Ltd. Read more about Dan in the Oldenburg Horse Breeders' Society Newsletter.

Jari L. Sullivan Photo Jari L. Sullivan; Owner — Ahsum Acres
While Dan splits his time between the law and the farm, Jari is on-site full-time. She is quite proficient in managing the myriad schedules, procedures, training requirements, health precautions, feeding adjustments, and paperwork required by the farm. She doesn't run the farm with an iron hand, but manages with the belief that the stalls must be clean, the horses must be fed to the proper weight and kept as healthy as possible, and the premises must be maintained to minimize the possibility of a horse hurting itself or others. Simply, when a horse needs nurturing, Jari is there. Her main riding interest is Western, which grew out of her upbringing in a small Kansas town further west than Dodge City.
