Dan is a lawyer practicing full time since 1967. However, he became more than passably interested in horses when he decided to try riding again at the age of 55. Besides becoming a rider, he gained proficiency in equine law. He had no fond memories of moving cattle in his youth and found he enjoyed English riding because it allowed jumping.

As the son of a farmer/rancher located in southwest Kansas, and with a desire to live in the Galena/Elizabeth area, he purchased Ahsum Acres. His passion for horses grew naturally to include Thoroughbred breeding, an involvement possible for someone not inclined to fish or golf in his golden years.

All breeds and disciplines interest him, but he is particularly interested in Thoroughbreds for the racing and in Warmbloods for the dressage and eventing. Dan enjoys foxhunting and, when the practice of law and the constraints of the farm allow it, eventing at the lower levels of that discipline.

Jari has become proficient with the management of a horse farm. There are myriad schedules, procedures, training requirements, health precautions, feeding adjustments too numerous to mention and that is before she does the paperwork attendant to maintaining a farm.

Jari's main riding interest is western, which presumably grew out of her upbringing in a small Kansas town further west than Dodge City.

When a horse needs to be nurtured or cared for, Jari is there. Jari doesn't run the farm with an iron hand, but manages with the belief that the stalls must be clean, the horses must be fed to the proper weight and kept as healthy as possible, and the premises must be maintained to minimize the possibility of a horse hurting itself or others.
